“I distance myself from any form of violence, attack, or attempted provocation against state institutions. The actions we have been witnessing throughout the entire day clearly show how troubled the regime is by our peaceful protest,” reads the statement released by Georgia’s 5th President, Salome Zurabishvili.

“These kinds of provocations aim to halt this protest and discredit the force that today genuinely represents the free will of the citizens – something that was once again clearly demonstrated yesterday.

I support the peaceful protest as an expression of the maturity and responsibility of our society.
I call on everyone not to give in to provocations and to continue the peaceful protest, because only through peaceful means can we fully achieve our goal,” Zurabishvili states.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the leaders of the “Strong Georgia – Lelo” coalition, Aleksandre Elisashvili, has been detained after attempting to set fire to the registry office building of the Tbilisi City Court early this morning.
