Zurab Japaridze has refused early conditional release, which the law entitled him to. This information was shared on Japaridze’s Facebook page.

“Six months of Zurab Japaridze’s prison term have passed, with one month remaining. According to the law, he is therefore eligible for early conditional release. Today, he was offered the opportunity to use this right; however, since he does not consider collaborating with the Russian regime under any circumstances, Zurab Japaridze clearly refused,” the statement reads.

Japaridze was sentenced to seven months in prison for failing to appear before the investigative commission regarding Tsulukiani. He also faces a second charge in the so-called sabotage case, although authorities have not yet requested pretrial detention in that case.
