On November 19, Gia Jvarshishvili, an activist detained during the march in support of Mate Devdize, began a hunger strike.
Jvarshishvili was arrested on charges of disobeying the police. During a court hearing on November 21, he denied the police accusations of disobedience.
Despite this, Judge Davit Makaradze sentenced Gia Jvarshishvili to seven days of administrative detention.
According to Jvarshishvili’s lawyer, Tatia Koniashvili, he plans to observe a hunger strike for the duration of his detention.
