The ruling party Georgian Dream passed amendments to the “Law on Combating Corruption” with 85 votes, according to which public officials convicted of corruption will be required to submit property declarations for a period of 30 years.
The legislative changes were presented by Archil Gorduladze.
According to him, former officials convicted of financial or administrative crimes will be obliged, from the moment the court decision becomes legally binding, to submit financial declarations for the next 30 years.
“This is another example of preventing corruption-related crimes,” Gorduladze stated.
The relevant legislative amendments were prepared by Georgian Dream in September, amid the exposure and arrests of former party members involved in corruption.
