MP Vakhtang Turnava spends more on luxury accessories than a regular public sector employee, for example a rank-and-file specialist at Batumi City Hall, earns in an entire year.

Based on the lawmaker’s asset declaration, Batumelebi calculated that Vakhtang Turnava has spent more than 177,000 euros on watches alone, an amount exceeding half a million Georgian lari.

For comparison, the salary of a third category specialist at Batumi City Hall is set to increase next year to 3,560 lari per month, meaning such an employee would receive 30,720 lari in annual wages.

If compared to pensioners’ incomes, the cost of the MP’s watches would be enough for the Georgian authorities to cover one year’s pension payments for 130 urban pensioners.

In 2023, MP Vakhtang Turnava paid 47,312 euros for a single wristwatch, an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph. At the exchange rate at the time, this amounted to more than 130,000 lari. However, at that time Turnava was not yet a member of parliament.

In the same year, 2023, he also purchased another watch, a Rolex Datejust 41, for which he paid 10,346 euros. That year he also made a much more substantial expenditure, spending 200,000 US dollars on the purchase of bitcoins.

According to the asset declaration the MP filled out in February 2025, his collection also includes several other Rolex watches. In 2022, he purchased a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, paying 44,502 euros for it.

His collection also includes a Rolex Yacht-Master 4 purchased in 2021 for 25,767 euros, a Rolex GMT-Master I purchased in 2022 for 19,900 euros, and a Rolex Datejust 41 purchased for 16,428 euros.

In 2019, he purchased a Rolex Milgauss for 13,436 euros.

Before joining the Georgian Dream parliamentary list, 37 year old Vakhtang Turnava was engaged in business activities. However, according to his own declaration, he received no income from these companies in 2024.

In 2023 and 2024, Vakhtang Turnava also issued several loans totaling several thousand euros.

According to his declaration, he holds 430,000 euros in deposits as savings. At the time the declaration was filed, his deposit accounts at the Bank of Georgia held 220,000 lari, 75,650 euros, and 16,245 US dollars.
