Judge Davit Akobidze has terminated the proceedings in the case in which Mzia Amaglobeli was seeking a retraction from Irakli Kobakhidze for false accusations he had made against her.
Mzia Amaglobeli was not present at the hearing. She was represented by her lawyer, Ana Rekhviashvili. As for the respondent, neither Irakli Kobakhidze nor his representative appeared in court.
Mzia Amaglobeli was demanding the retraction of two statements made by Kobakhidze:
A statement made on July 10, 2025, on the pro-government TV channel Imedi;
A statement made on July 23, 2025, on the Adjara Public Broadcaster.
In both instances, Kobakhidze claimed that Mzia Amaglobeli’s act – slapping the then-head of Batumi police, Irakli Dgebuadze, in response to an insult had been orchestrated by “foreign forces” and aimed at discrediting the police. Amaglobeli demands that Kobakhidze retract these statements on the same TV channels and at the same airtime slots in which they were originally made.
