Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia, spoke at the plenary session of an international forum in Turkmenistan, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, emphasizing Georgia’s commitment to peace amid ongoing regional challenges.
“Alongside the reality of the ongoing occupation of our two historic regions, Georgia considers peace not only a political choice but an existential priority,” Kobakhidze said.
He expressed honor in participating in the forum, which was initiated by Turkmenistan under the United Nations framework, and thanked the Turkmen government for its “steadfast commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and constructive engagement at both regional and global levels.”
Kobakhidze stressed that the session’s theme, “Peace and Trust: Shared Goals for a Sustainable Future,” closely aligns with Georgia’s values and foreign policy priorities. He noted that the global community currently faces multiple challenges, from geopolitical tensions and armed conflicts to climate change and economic instability, and argued that the principles of peace and trust are essential instruments for global stability.
The forum in Ashgabat, held on Turkmenistan’s Neutrality Day, was attended by leaders from Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and others. Kobakhidze has visited Turkmenistan three times this year.
