The tender for the construction of a new stadium with a capacity of 70,000 spectators near Tbilisi Airport, valued at 876 million GEL, has been suspended. The information was initially reported by bm.ge.
The following companies submitted bids for the stadium construction:
- Anag (Georgia) – 850 million GEL
- Macro Construction & LLC İnşaat 3 (Georgia and Azerbaijan) – 789.4 million GEL
- YDA İNŞAAT (Turkey) – 744.9 million GEL
According to the tender documentation, Macro Construction, İnşaat 3, and YDA İNŞAAT were disqualified for failing to meet the qualification requirements specified in the tender documents. This left Anag as the sole remaining participant. However, the Ministry of Infrastructure explained that because Anag’s bid was significantly higher than those of the other participants, the commission exercised its legally granted right to reassess the conditions and implement the necessary changes.
“The tender commission deliberated and determined that it is necessary to review the client’s requirements and the qualification criteria in the tender documents,” the commission stated in its conclusion.
The construction of the new stadium was announced by Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister from the Georgian Dream party. According to Kobakhidze, construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026, and its completion by the end of 2028 is “absolutely realistic.”
